Today...was a test for my knees... just looking at the size of sigiriya...I was oooh sh*t it is 600 feet, and I think someone said 4000 steps..
Cost 43nzd to get in... what you see... hmm stairs bricks... more stairs...the amount of bricks they have used for the complex is staggering as it's not only on top it's all around....
I can see why, they had it so high... it actually was kinda pleasant with a cool breeze no biting insects.
The cave paintings, were in pretty good condition, not allowed to take pictures.
Get nagged by guides or people wanting to help you... for 20usd.. prices for entrance fees are alot more than originally quoted... am worried i will not have enough cash... doesn't help with the unexpected having to pay for my guides meals and drinks....
You really do not get value for money here... NZ is probably cheaper....and better value...
On my way back I came across a snake in the grass!! Came close to standing on em..
Anyway my knees held up... it was slow going.... humid as #%&@, hopefully...it will help getting me skinny... and not my wallet!!
Have a 19km night trek up a mountain in a few more days....
